Since 2006, the head of the department is Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Viacheslav Tarelnyk. The department was created in 2005 by reforming the department “Operation and repair of machines.” The share of teachers with academic degrees is 82%. The department makes every effort to maintain a high professional level of teachers. All teachers constantly undergo internships at leading universities in Ukraine and abroad.

Teachers of the department have publications in journals indexed by databases SCOPUS and WoS. The SCOPUS general h- index is – 23.

The department has opened postgraduate and doctoral programs in specialty 133 “Branch Engineering.” A science school has been established.

Period and history of the creation of a scientific school:

Back in 1997, the scientific school “Ensuring the quality of general engineering products in mechanical assembly production” began to be founded by Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Nikolai Zakharov, under whose guidance they defended their dissertations in the specialty “Technology of Engineering”: Valery Osipov, Kushnirov Pavel, Radchuk Oleg, Konoplianchenko Ievgen, Chibiryak Yana, Yaremenko Viktor, Bey Roman, Bondarev Sergey.

In 2001, the doctoral Viacheslav Tarelnyk was defended, whose scientific consultant was Professor M. Zakharov For more than ten years, at the Technical Service Department, there has been a direction of the scientific school “Ensuring the operational properties of the working surfaces of machine parts with resource-saving energy-efficient technologies”, the leader of which is Prof. Viacheslav Tarelnyk.

Already under the guidance of Professor Viacheslav Tarelnyk, Associate professors of the Technical Service Department, Vasyl Martsynkovskyy  and Andrey Belous defended their candidate dissertations. In 2013, the ranks of the scientific school were replenished by Maxim Zakharov, whose supervisor was Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor Yuriy Timofeev from NTU “KhPI”.

The main areas of scientific school at the moment are:

– Development of the theory and practice of creating new highly effective and competitive technologies for the formation of the required quality of surfaces of machine parts.

– Development of energy-saving technologies to ensure the operational properties of the working surfaces of parts.

– Quality management of the surface layers of parts provides reliability and durability of the most important elements of machines.

– Resource-saving technologies for the production and renovation of energy equipment.

– Development of resource-saving technologies for the production and renovation of industrial equipment, and advanced technologies for its reengineering.

– design, modernization, increasing dynamic stability, ensuring the stability of transient operation of compressor and pumping equipment for the chemical, petrochemical, metallurgical, gas and other industries.

In the research area of the scientific school, the state budget topic GBT No. 0116U002756 “Development of energy-saving technologies to ensure the operational properties of the working surfaces of parts” is being implemented with a total funding for 2016-2017. – 420.000 UAH

Cooperation with the industrial sector is carried out on the basis of contractual topics, which have recently been completed by a scientific school totaling more than 300.000 UAH.

The innovativeness of scientific school developments is confirmed by more than 280 patents.

The technical service department actively cooperates with foreign universities and scientific institutions such as:

– Silesian Polytechnic University, Gliwice, Poland;

– Kielce University of Technology, Poland;

– Institute of Applied Physics, Academy of Sciences of Moldova.

In addition, with the Kielce University of Technology and IAP Academy of Sciences of Moldova, the final cooperation agreements were initiated by the Department of Technical Services, headed by Professor Viacheslav Tarelnyk.

Joint research is actively involved in modern material bases of foreign universities. Within the framework of the agreement on scientific cooperation between SNAU and the Kielce University of Technology (Poland), research is being carried out on metallographic and tribological analysis of prototypes.

The staff of the department pays considerable attention to scientific work with students. In order to strengthen student scientific work with production, the department periodically organizes excursions to leading engineering and repair enterprises of Ukraine such as Kharkov Tractor Plant OJSC, TRIZ LTD Ltd., international exhibitions of equipment and technologies such as Interagro, TIR.

Students are involved in the development of scientific directions of the department and take part in the implementation of planned research during experimental and computational work, in theoretical research.

The high level of students’ training is evidenced by their successful participation in All-Ukrainian student subject Olympiads and scientific work contests.

Three teachers of the department, namely prof. Tarelnyk V., Assoc. Martsynkovskyy  V., Assoc. Kononoplianchenko Ie. is full members of the Ukrainian Technological Academy, and Associate professor. Yaremenko V. is a corresponding member of the International Academy of Environmental Safety Sciences. Head of the Technical Service Department, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Prof. V. Tarelnik is the editor-in-chief of the international specialized scientific and technical journal Compressor and Power Engineering.
